We spoke to makeup artist and brand spokesperson for Bare Minerals, SJ Froom, to glean her best tips when it comes to all things blush. “It’s all about skin that's clean, bright and polished with a pop of blush on the apples of the cheeks to lift the face and create natural definition that shapes your cheekbones," she said.
“Powder blusher work beautifully over a mineral powder foundation or finishing powder; this way the pigments give an airbrushed finish which naturally blurs imperfections. I love powder blush as it applies seamlessly to the skin, you can’t see where the colour starts or stops. For liquids and creams its best to lightly blend straight onto of tinted moisturiser or liquid foundation before powder as this will give a fresh dewy finish with added luminosity."
Less is more with blusher generally; start small and build it up where needed. Apply your blusher right onto the centre of the apple of the cheek and blend in circular motions, you can always add slightly more and sweep the colour up very gently towards the temples.

To find the right shade for your skin tone, undertones are not to be underestimated. Froom suggests:
For olive skin undertones:
- try corals and peaches shades - these will work better on lighter brown skin
For cool undertones:
- try pink shades - these will also work better for lighter brown skin
For deep and neautral undertones:
- try mauve shades - these will work best for medium to deep skin
"I like to mix things up and will sometimes layer different blushers and create my own shade," she adds." she adds
